v4l2 3rd party

v4l2 standing for “Video for Linux Two” is licensed under the terms of the GPLv2, or GPLv3, or BSD licenses. v4l2 only available on a linux-like machine is used in ViSP vpV4l2Grabber class. v4l2 is one of the optional 3rd parties supported by ViSP sensor module.

v4l2 allows grabbing images from various cameras including usb webcam. Depending on your camera you may need to install additional drivers like BTTV (see http://linux.bytesex.org/v4l2/bttv.html) to make your camera working with v4l2. Ubuntu Debian Fedora RedHat CentOS

Ubuntu or debian installation

On Linux Debian or Ubuntu, you may install the package with:

sudo apt-get install libv4l-dev

Fedora, RedHat or CentOS installation

On Fedora, RedHat or CentOS you may install the package with yum:

su -c "yum install libv4l-devel"
